2. Free home visit
A care supervisor comes to you and listens. Together, we make a care plan and find the best way to pay. That may be Medi-Cal CalAIMCalAIM is a Medi-Cal program. It can pay for extra help at home, so you pay nothing. at $0 or private pay. We do the paperwork. We can also help you apply for IHSSIHSS is short for In-Home Supportive Services. It is a county program that pays someone, often a family member, to help you at home., the county program that pays a helper you hire yourself.

The home visit, explained
The visit is a free in-home functional assessment. That means a careful look at how daily life really goes, so we match the right services to you. It is a conversation, not a test. Nothing to prepare, nothing to pass.
1. We watch and listen
A care coordinator observes how everyday things go: moving around, bathing, dressing, meals, and how safe the home feels. Family is welcome to join and add what they see too.
2. We build your care plan
From what we observe and what you tell us, we write a care plan: which services, which days, which times. For Medi-Cal care, the hours your health plan approves shape the plan.
3. You can change it
The care plan is yours. You and your family can ask to adjust it any time: tasks, days, or times. Tell us and we update it together. If a change needs more hours than your health plan approved, we ask the plan for you.

Common questions
How soon can care start?
Private-pay care can often start in 2 to 5 business days. Medi-Cal care starts after your health plan reviews the referral and says yes. Urgent referrals are reviewed faster.
Does CalAIM coverage take longer?
A little. Your Medi-Cal health plan has to say yes first, and that adds a few days. We send and track the request for you.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. There is no long-term contract. You can change the schedule, pause, or stop care at any time.
What if the caregiver isn't the right fit?
Just tell us. We will send someone new at no cost, any time, for any reason.
I'm not sure whether we qualify. Where do I start?
Call (805) 951-1121. A 10-minute call can usually tell you if CalAIM, IHSS, respite, or private pay fits you.
